Who We Are
There is No Better Investment Than Your Heritage
We started as the Yorkco York Employees Federal Credit Union from a desktop in the Borg-Warner Plant in York, Pennsylvania, and since 1935 we’ve grown by continuing to help members one to one across the desk. This more personal brand of banking has fueled our growth throughout the years and in 2022 we expanded our membership to those who live, work, worship or go to school in York, Adams, Cumberland, and Dauphin counties.
However, we’ve always known our communities only thrive when our members do. That’s why, from offering share certificates and lines of credit in the 1970s to the latest banking technology and credit card rewards today, we never stop helping members grow their heritage and ours.
We have always believed that your heritage isn’t passed down, it’s built up. And helping people build up their financial futures is what we strive to do every day. In the late 1990s, we changed our name to better reflect our mission, but what made our name hasn’t. Get the lowest loan and the highest dividend rates from Heritage Valley Federal Credit Union.
Explore the Credit Union Difference
operate with a different set of rules than big banks.
- 1. Voluntary & Open Membership
We are a not-for-profit financial institution offering services to people regardless of their gender identity, race, political and religious affiliations, and sexual orientation.
- 2. Democratic Member Control
We are an organization owned and controlled by our members. Our Board of Directors is comprised of volunteers from our community.
- 3. Member Economic Participation
Since it’s the members that own the credit union and contribute to its capital, they are the ones who benefit from the profits, not shareholders.
- 4. Autonomy & Independence
Credit unions are independent organizations controlled by their members, not outside stakeholders.
- 5. Financial Education, Training & Information
Financial literacy is important in all stages of life, that is why we try to give you the tools and information you need to achieve financial freedom.
- 6. Cooperation Among Cooperatives
Credit unions work together through local, state, and nation cooperatives to help our members and communities effectively.
- 7. Concern for Community
It’s no secret that we love our community, and we do our best to see our community thrive by donating to local non-profits, and volunteering our time.
- 8. Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Credit unions are here to serve everyone in our community!
